The formula
Load needed = Balance × (1 + tax rate)
The tax is worked out on the balance that reaches your account, so the load is divided by 1.15 rather than multiplied by 0.85. On Rs 100 that is 100 ÷ 1.15 = Rs 86.96. The telecom regulator (PTA) used the same method in a 2019 example: a Rs 200 load at the older 12.5% rate gave Rs 177.78.
Why other sites show different numbers
- Rs 260.87 vs Rs 255: multiplying Rs 300 by 0.85 gives Rs 255, but that treats the 15% as a share of the load rather than of the balance.
- 13.04%: this is the same 15% tax expressed as a share of your load (15 ÷ 115). It is not a different rate.
- 12.5%: an earlier withholding rate. Choose it in the rate box if you want to compare.
Does it apply to EasyLoad and every network?
Yes. Prepaid recharges on Jazz, Zong, Ufone and Telenor carry the same tax, whether you buy a scratch card, top up through an EasyLoad retailer or recharge with an app or bank. Postpaid bills are handled separately.
